Farewell Message from Deacon Guy & Christine Dacquay:

Dear friends and parishioners, on August 1st I will be starting a new deacon assignment at Paroisse St. Joseph, which is near our home in Orléans. While Christine and I are excited to begin this new assignment, we are also saddened to leave our many friends at St Theresa Parish! It has been a tremendous grace and joy for me to serve at St Theresa's and I wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Fr Vincent, Deacon Will, Sheila, Alan and all of the laypersons and parishioners for the many kind farewells and expressions of thanks that we have received. St Theresa Parish is like family to us and we'll certainly come back to visit! May our Lord continue to bless and guide your parish community with much peace, love and joy!

PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE ARCHBISHOP OF OTTAWA-CORNWALL

Dear brother priests and deacons,

As you know, the Holy Father's visit was prepared quickly. His visit, as we know, is priceless to find the path of healing and reconciliation. However, there is a cost associated with this pilgrimage and we have received a last-minute request from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) to provide assistance in paying for the national expenses associated with this visit estimated at approximately $15 million.

This bill includes in particular "accommodation and security costs for event participants; the production of events including staging, lighting, sound systems, media center, screens and other production costs; event logistics, including washrooms, electricity, internet, communication equipment for volunteers, mobility for short-distance transportation for Indigenous seniors and survivors; health and well-being, including mental health support for Indigenous survivors and needs not covered by other authorities" (Pope Francis in Canada, CCCB, 2022)."

I would be grateful if you could communicate this need to our parishioners and encourage them to make a donation. There are many ways to do this. The information is included in the attached letter to parishioners. You can read the letter to them if this facilitates your work. In addition, I am sending you a pamphlet designed by the CCCB that you can print and share as you deem appropriate. It provides answers to several questions regarding this initiative.

May Mary and her mother Saint Anne intercede for us.

May God bless the Holy Father's visit to Canada.

Sincerely yours in Jesus Christ,

✠ Marcel Damphousse

Archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall
